2022 showed a record high for the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner, but this year the price has gone down. The one ticket item on the table that helped this overall price go down, was the price of a turkey. The average price for a 16-pound turkey has gone down 5.6% from last year’s numbers with the price being $27.35. “Traditionally, the turkey is the most expensive item on the Thanksgiving dinner table,” said AFBF Senior Economist Veronica Nigh. “Turkey prices have fallen thanks to a sharp reduction in cases of avian influenza, which have allowed production to increase in time for the holiday.”
