Hillsborough Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a full-time, permanent position (County-funded) for a mid career agricultural land/ water/ natural resources management professional. This is a career track leadership development position and we are looking for people both passionate about agriculture and capable of learning to manage government operations.
The incumbent will provide consultations to landowners and operators, assist in identifying and applying for project funding, and track and monitor the performance of land and water conservation projects, with an emphasis on rural working lands and green infrastructure. The incumbent will develop their technical knowledge toward becoming the Conservation District’s subject matter expert on Best Management Practices (BMPs) and agricultural operations in Hillsborough County and surrounding areas; will engage with a diverse group of stakeholders and assist the Executive Director and Board in developing funding sources and delivering technical programs. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in agriculture, excellent communication skills, a passion for meeting environmental challenges that are associated with rural working lands and some combination of: familiarity with farm or ranch operations and major equipment; Integrated Pest Management; regenerative soil techniques; irrigation systems; Geographic Information Systems; and/or agricultural automation systems.
