Florida Farm Bureau Federation is currently seeking an Accounting Specialist to play a critical accounting department support role to the CFO, Controller, and/or Accountant.

NOTE: The listed pay range is the starting pay range for the position.

The Accounting Specialist works closely with the CFO, Controller, and/or Accountant to provide support on all financial affairs including reviewing interim financial statements and maintaining the organization’s overall accounting systems, procedures, and policies.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare daily bank deposits for non-profit and for-profit entities.
  • Review financial statements for accuracy and legal compliance.
  • Prepare and file various tax returns (990 series, F1120, 1120, TPP, Sales Tax).
  • Review account postings for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Organize and update financial records.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation.
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • Five years of accounting and payroll experience.
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Enrolled Agents license or Certified Payroll Professional license preferred.
  • QuickBooks Enterprise, QuickBooks Desktop, and/or QuickBooks online experience desired.
  • Candidates with experience with payroll and human resources experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to problem-solve payroll tax and sales tax-related questions.
  • Ability to assist and train with QuickBooks, financial accounting, and payroll.
  • Ability to discuss and present complex accounting issues to various audiences, including volunteer board of directors and administrative staff.
  • Must be self-motivated and analytical with strong organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail with professional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Must be accountable with prompt follow-through.
  • Must possess a sold understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Some overnight travel may be required.

Pay: $49,737.00 – $62,154.00 per year
