Who can take the GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam?

The GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam is only available to students who take the GIS Entry Level Course (010103) and earn a final course score of 70% or above.

What can I expect the GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam to be like?

The GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam is administered in a single, two-hour online session, is 80 questions in length, and includes multiple choice for all questions.

What technical requirements must I meet to be able to take the exam?

The AEST Testing Platform is delivered through this site using HTML and JavaScript. It is designed to work on a wide variety of computers and browsers.  For best results, upgrade the browser software to the newest version and clear browser cookies and/or website data on the computer before beginning a certification exam.

What score do I need to earn my GIS Entry Level Technician Certification?

An exam score of 51% or greater is required to earn certification.

How much does it cost to sit for the exam?

The exam is $80.  Retake exams are $50.  Exam fees are paid directly to Agriculture Education Services and Technology, Inc., AEST.  Once exam fees have been paid, there are no refunds and in the event an exam is paid for but not administered, a credit will reflect on the school’s account for future testing.

Are testing accommodations available if I need them?

Yes!  It is the intent of Agriculture Education Services and Technology, Inc. to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act and to accommodate candidates with language limitations.  AEST provides common accommodations for industry certification exams as necessary. Accommodations may alter the testing environment or the administration of the exam, but will not alter the content of the exam.  Common accommodations include extended testing time, use of language translation dictionaries, verbal exam and paper exams.  Complete the online Accommodations Request Form to get started.

When do I get my results?

The exam is electronically graded and results are immediate.

Where do I get my Certificate with my certification number?

Unique certification numbers are issued to those earning GIS Entry Level Technician Certification and certificates of proof are delivered electronically and can be printed from the website http://aest.ag/certify/verify/.

Where can I take the GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam?

The GIS Entry Level Technician Certification exam is available online and is administered by an approved AEST proctor.  AEST, Agriculture Education Services and Technology, Inc., is the testing agency for the exam and is responsible for all aspects of exam delivery including but not limited to registering testing sites, approving exam proctors, scoring exams, issuing certificates as proof of certification, ensuring exam security and offering technical support.

How long is my certification valid?

GIS Entry Level Technician Certifications do not expire.

Where can my employer verify my certification?

Valid certifications can be verified using the candidate’s email address at https://aest.ag/certify/verify/.  Certificates can also be downloaded and printed from the site for the length of their validity.
